Getting too serious?

Submitted by Forgiven on July 19 2000 18:46:28

I feel that some of my recent posts have been getting too heavy, and that I want to lighten the tone, so:

In an ecumenical gesture, the Pope, Jerry Falwell and a (Christian) boylover went out in a boat fishing. As noon approached, the Pope apologised for disrupting the peace of the morning, got out of the boat and walked over the water to say the Angelus. When he got back, the Boylover explained that he'd promised to phone his mother at work over lunch and had left his mobile on the beach, walked over the water, made the call and walked back. At this Jerry Falwell, feeling that the honour of the Evangelical faith was at stake, claimed he's left his lunch on the shore, got out of the boat - and fell in the water.

As they pulled him back into the boat, the Pope said to the boylover 'Shouldn't we have told him about the stepping stones back to the shore?'

To which the boylover replied 'What stepping stones?'
