OK, I'll Reverse It

I'll tell how my theology and sexuality combine.

I believe above all in God's love and mercy. I believe that our lives are God's gift to us. I don't care if the gifts I've received are those I think I should have been given, they're the ones I was given and I'm grateful for them.

I thank God each morning for my life and for what God has given me. I pray that I will share God's love with others. Due to my sexuality, which I do view as a gift, I find I myself called to be especially generous in sharing myself with boys. My sexuality finds expression in simply appreciating the beauty of boys, and in being a friend to them. I do not find genital expression to be necessary in doing this. Neither do I deny that the ways in which I do relate to boys is lacking a sexual component. Indeed, I proclaim that it does.

I believe we are sexual beings and that it's an integral part of us. I think it harmful to try to separate out this component and repress, deny or denigrate it. Were I to avoid contact or relationships with boys, I'd be witholding opportunities to share God's love, and telling God I'm dissatisfied with what I've been given. That would hardly be an expression of gratitude. If I say I've got faith and hope and truth but don't express God's love in ways that God has made natural for me, I become that noisy gong, the one who puts his light under a basket, the one who buries his talent in the ground.

As God showed us by sending Jesus to us, love needs to be expressed, it needs to be freely given. We must be willing to do this.
