I was watching the Little League World Series last night and durring a lull in the game they had a short special on some of the really special people who help out with the boys. Did you know that there are men who are assigned to each team that are affectionately and officially called "Uncles"? Each team is given an "uncle", mostly middle aged men, who will hang out with the team and just kind of be there to give the boys moral support and friendship. When they did the report they showed some of the uncles and then they showed a shot of one of them getting this big ole' hug from a boy in the duggout. Now you just KNOW that at least some of these guys are bonified BL's for sure! I mean, what better job for a BL, huh? I know I would love it! I would be counting down the days, starting from the end of August, for the entire year until I could do it all over again. I know I would.
I will never be able to be an official Little League Uncle but I'm so glad that there are some good men who are. I hope they are all good men, anyway. Gosh, what a cool job though...to be an "Uncle" to a whole team of 11 to 13 year old boys. Chris ![]() |
