Well, I don't know. I'm pretty sure it's illegal to distribute CP (whether you technically "possess" it or not). I was simply suggesting that it surely can't be illegal to possess a naked/sexual picture of YOURSELF (even if it was taken when underage). If a boy were to take a naked picture of himself at age 10 and keep it safely locked away till he is an adult, how can that be illegal? However, if he were to pass it around to his friends, his friends might be guilty of possessing CP ... and he might be guilty of distributing it. At least that's my theory.
