Milk

I just saw the movie "Milk" last night and I thought it was very, very good. This is a movie about the famous (or infamous if you happen to be an anti-gay fascist) historical figure, Harvey Milk. He was the first openly gay man in the United States to be elected to political office when he won the San Fransisco Supervisor seat in 1977. This was all new to me, unfortunately, because although I love history, I am not very knowlegable in it. However, I had heard that Sean Penns performance in the role of Harvey Milk was extrordinary, so I had to see it for myself. Believe me, it is. Just the fact that he could be so convincingly gay is amazing in itself. All of those kissing scenes must have been difficult beyond belief, but he pulled them off without a flinch.

All of that aside, I think this was definately a great movie. I wonder how accurate it is with all of the historical facts; I hope it is as accurate as they could make it. I think Harvey Milk was an American hero for what he did for gay and lesbian rights and this movie will certainly get you stirred up about it. If anyone else has seen this film, let me know what you think.
