The thing is that we can free of it.

Firstly because the Bible tells us that we do not have to sin.

Secondly because the Bible tells us that God will give us strength to resist when we submit to him...

Submit to God, resist the Devil and he will flee from you.

Seeing as how temptation to sin is not from God but from the Devil that verse then covers sin as much as it covers any other action by satan.
