I'm sorry you had to go thru what you did. I had 2 YFs at different times in my life, and I think both suspected I was a pedophile, or maybe they thought I was gay. But they never asked and I never told them. So they didn't have anything to go tell their parents about. If I had come out and TOLD them I was a pedophile, they probably should tell their parents. I don't believe in kids keeping secrets with adults from their parents. I am, after all, NOT their parent. And no matter how ignored or neglected the kids may be, parents are forever and I wouldn't try to undermine them. I look at mentoring more of enhancing a boys life, not replacing his parents.

But if a parent takes in into their minds that someone must be a pedophile simply for paying attention to their kid, there's not much you can do. They may just be jealous that their kid likes you. But if you try to fight the parents for the attention of their child, the parent will always win, and the boy will always be the biggest loser.
