Cherry picking? NO. What you must realize is the fact that there are contradictions in the Bible and it is not infallible since it went through many translations and meanings/words tend to get lost when you go from one language to another instead of learning the original language and doing the translation yourself. Otherwise we need to face the fact that the Bible is not perfect and it is not the word of God, JESUS is(Read John Chapter 1).
I chose this particular text because it was something that bugged me the most and I am taking an objective (as possible as I can) look at the Bible in search of the whole Truth of Life(Jesus is Life so that includes him and the father as well as the Holy Spirit). Read Paul's words in Romans when he speaks on the requirments to be righteous. Cherry picking - You know this is a loaded term since if you read through the Bible you are not getting complete stories from most of it anyway so what you call cherry picking I call picking through with a fine tooth comb. Those who claim to follow the Bible need to take it a part piece by piece so they can understand the entire book. I have even gone through the first 3 - 5 books reading straight through and will also commit some time to study in depth other books as I feel lead and soon will be focusing on the books which contains the prophetic teachings as well as various others in between. As said before this was not cherry picking just sharing an observation and I think people need to stop talking about people cherry picking when they themselves only know a small part of the Bible anyway. You still can't deny the fact that we are taught God is a jeaolus God but it is written in the same Bible that Love(God) is not Jealous. Unless the original text used two different words and the english translations decided to use the same than Jealous is Jealous and this is a contradiction. Now if the English Translation did use the same word while the original text used two different words well that poses another problem since most modern day believers depend on the English translations which may or may not be 100% accurate. Now, why would God have us depend on something that can be made inaccurate yet the requirements for our salvation called for someone perfect? Answer: He did not. Jesus told us as it is recorded in the Bible that he will send us a comforter which will lead us into ALL Truth which is the Spirit of God. Yes I use the Bible because it is a historical text that records some of the History of Mankind but it is not the end all be all which is why I trust in my Father in Heaven's Spirit to guide and lead me not some text put together by Men no matter how noble or well intended. Do you even know about the people who compiled the text from the Dead Sea Scrolls and decided what they would incorporate into the Bible and what they wouldn't. If you want accurate text they should have included everything the found and left nothing out as well as ensure the original language is given to all and maybe we need to begin learning the original language and if that is too hard for some than there are teachers of the Bible who teaches it in the original and shows the meaning of it in English. God Bless You. |
