I was never really invited to dinner at thier house, but she would meet me at a local diner once in a while to discuss important things relating to her son. It took me about three months before I was taking "L" places and doing stuff with him, like going to the movies and such. It wasn't too long after that when he started staying overnight at my place on the weekends. Although I waited until I was living with someone else, and not alone, before I agreed to the overnighters. I just didn't feel like it would be a good idea for him and I to be spending time alone over night. Of course I knew nothing bad would happen, I just thought it would be better to have another adult present as a witness. But when I DID move and he DID start spending weekends over, it was almost every weekend.

Man....those were the days.
