I've lost contact (sniff) with my oldest and closest loved boys, so I don't know when they would have stopped hugging me.

However, I've recently noticed something interesting. Little boys can be huggy but when they hit the teens they usually become less comfortable with it. But! My current band of boys also seem to have a second phase of huggylicious behaviour after their initial teen apprehension passes a little. I've been wondering if anyone else has noticed the same.
