My feeling is that as long as church leaders continue to promote the view that homosexual relationships are sinful (and they are merely speaking in accordance with what they believe the Bible teaches) they have a moral responsibility to offer support to gay individuals rather than contributing to the hardships they face.

I should add that there are many religious leaders doing great things for youths (including gay youth), including some who have been reprimanded for departing from church doctrine in order to do so.
