You could take a minor college class on Greek History and know that gay, hairless, non sport liking men have been around for a long time. Not to mention lived perfectly good lives.

I don't disagree with the rest of your post. But I just couldn't let the above go without pointing out the obvious.

The Greeks were obsessive about their love of sports and the well developed muscular male physique. They worshiped the well chiseled male body, believing that the gods were well muscled and the more muscular you were, the more god-like. They invented the gymnasium, the coliseum, and the olympic games and competed in the nude in order to fully appreciate the beauty of the athletic, well muscled male body. They were the first culture we know of to have professional athletes and the first culture to perfect the art of sculpting the muscular "perfect" male form. When it comes to a culture obsessed with athletic pursuits and the worship of the muscular male form, none comes close to ancient Greece.

Our ideal of the perfect male form is a throwback to the Greek ideal. To this day, the simile "the body of a Greek God" is used to describe that muscular ideal that the Greeks created.
