I'm surprised you see the interpretation as a disability as negative; surely it doesn't give people the excuse to have a 'bad opinion' about us, rather it enables them to have sympathy. Certainly the response of one of the church leaders who knows my position is exactly that. The whole point about emphasising it as a disability is to underline the degree to which we haven't chosen to be as we are; it isn't fair to blame us for our orientation - only to expect us to act responsibly.
