Devotional #29, "We can always go to God in prayer"


“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need and thank him for all he has done. If you do this, you will experience God’s peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” Phil. 4:6&7

“And if God cares so wonderfully for flowers that are here today and gone tomorrow, won’t he more surely care for you? You have so little faith!
So don’t worry about having enough food or drink or clothing. Why be like the pagans who are so deeply concerned about these things? Your heavenly Father already knows all your needs, and he will give you all you need from day to day if you live for him and make the Kingdom of God your primary concern.” Mat. 6:30-33


Recently one of our newest posters expressed concern about the nature of life the way we must live it as boylovers. That we must constantly be on our guard and be so very careful about things that most others do not have to worry about because the world at large is hostile towards us. The thread that followed was fascinating as the topic of what we might be able to do and what we might not be able to do, was discussed. There were some very good things said but one important suggestion might have also been made.

God deeply loves our prayers and want us to come to him with everything. That includes our concerns for our lives and our welfare and the welfare of others. Literally anything that is important to us is also important to him. We are told not to worry about anything but to pray about everything. We can be absolutely sure that he is always listening. Just as Jesus said, we are so much more important to him than the beautiful flowers of the earth. Have you ever seen a particularly beautiful flower garden just filled with colorful, fragrant and fragile creations of God? It is a testimony to the very heart of our Lord who loves beauty so much to create such things. He didn’t have to give them such vivid color or such lovely fragrance, but he did because that is how he is; that is the kind of mind and heart he has. So if he would put such thought, care and design into flowers that last for such a short time, how much more thought, care and design does he give to the ones who are created in his own image?

We are so precious to God and his care for us is complete. We may indeed trust him with our very lives and with the lives of everyone we love because he loves us all so much. So let’s continue to pray for our own welfare and the welfare of boylovers of the world. For that matter, let us pray for all who are oppressed in this world, whatever the reason.


Prayer:
Dear Father, we are humbled and honored that you are so mindful of us and care so deeply about our lives and our welfare. As we strive here on earth to try to make life better for ourselves, we are also asking you for everything. Help us to have greater faith in your providence and to trust in that faith no matter what. Thank you for everything, Father. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
