Psalm 84
"1 How lovely is your dwelling place,
O LORD Almighty!
2 My soul yearns, even faints,
for the courts of the LORD;
my heart and my flesh cry out
for the living God.

3 Even the sparrow has found a home,
and the swallow a nest for herself,
where she may have her young—
a place near your altar,
O LORD Almighty, my King and my God.

4 Blessed are those who dwell in your house;
they are ever praising you.
Selah

5 Blessed are those whose strength is in you,
who have set their hearts on pilgrimage.

6 As they pass through the Valley of Weeping [Baca],
they make it a place of springs;
the autumn rains also cover it with pools.

7 They go from strength to strength,
till each appears before God in Zion.

8 Hear my prayer, O LORD God Almighty;
listen to me, O God of Jacob.
Selah

9 Look upon our shield, O God;
look with favor on your anointed one.

10 Better is one day in your courts
than a thousand elsewhere;
I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God
than dwell in the tents of the wicked.

11 For the LORD God is a sun and shield;
the LORD bestows favor and honor;
no good thing does he withhold
from those whose walk is blameless.

12 O LORD Almighty,
blessed is the man who trusts in you."

Even the sparrow finds a home in the house of God. I take so much comfort from that idea. I'm no one great in the kingdom of God, I've not achieved any great thing or done any great work... and yet I have a home in the house of the Great King of Kings.

Blessed we are who's strength is in this King rather than in our own selves. Our hearts are not looking to make a home for ourselves in this world... and as BLs such a desire will be thwarted on so many levels... our hearts are on pilgirmage... we are nomads, people passing through, on our way to somewhere better.

We pass through the valley of weeping and our tears make it a place of springs. Because we don't travel alone. We travel with the king and we travel with each other. We have shoulders to cry on, comforters and encouragers that help us sow in tears but reap in joy.

I may only be a humble doorkeeper... or perhaps a humble boylover... but if I live in God's house then blessed am I and full of gratitude.

Prayer
Father, we are a people here who are often unwelcome in the houses of the people of this world, thank you for making a place for us in your house. Help us to walk worthy of that place as we journey through this world, deliver us from temptation, let your light shine through us though we are amongst those most despised and hated. Help us to live every day with our trust in You alone. I ask in Jesus name. Amen.
