Devotional #95: Being Who God Made Me

Posted by Cat on 2010-11-20 14:44:03, Saturday

Exodus 4:11 The LORD said to him(Moses), “Who gave human beings their mouths? Who makes them deaf or mute? Who gives them sight or makes them blind? Is it not I, the LORD? 12 Now go; I will help you speak and will teach you what to say.”

God owns some significant stuff in this passage.
Who gave human beings their _________? (insert every aspect of our humanness here).
Sure the passage only sites mouths and eyes but I'm pretty sure the stretch I'm making isn't too far.
God made us who we are. In all our strengths and weaknesses.
The world hasn't gone astray... we are exactly as God intends for us to be.
Our strengths are no reason to boast and our weaknesses are no reason to feel sorry for ourselves.
We are to use all we have to the glory of God.

"Now Go" God says to Moses. "I've got work for you to do and I will use what I've given you and I will help you and teach you how to use it."

These blind people God has made have some advantages over us sighted people. Sure they miss out on seeing and that's a significant loss, but they get a focus of touch and hearing that most sighted people never experience. They "see" things we don't.

The same is true for being a Boylover. We miss out on some stuff in terms of sexual, one-flesh companionship with those we truly wish we could be with and that's a loss that hurts. Our YFs grow up... OUCH. And we live persecuted in the world even if we have never committed any crime. However, we also see boys like no one else does. We have a window into this spectacular wonder of God's creation that non-bls just don't have and frankly I love it.

I don't believe we are all called to particular tasks as Moses was, but I do believe that God wants us to use the gifts He's given us and that with Him as our helper and our teacher, we can learn to use everything for His glory... including our love of boys.

Prayer
Father, thank You that I'm a boylover, thank You for that insight You have given me for this most magnificent part of Your creation.
Where I am weak because of being a boylover I ask Your grace and mercy. Give me self-control, help me to be able to make adult friendships, guard my heart from loves that cannot be mine, protect me from persecution.
Where I am strong because of being a boylover I ask also Your grace and mercy. Give me opportunity to love boys in holy and Godly ways. Strengthen me to give my best for them. Use me to do great things in the lives of these young men.
Help me do all things for your glory, in Jesus name.
Amen.
