The problam I have with the belief that we don't go to heaven right after death is the account of the crucifixion in Luke. One of the robbers crucified next to him hurled insults at him, but the other asked Jesus to remember him when He came into His kingdom. Jesus replied that today you will be with me in paradise. So I don't think being immediately taken into heaven is reserved for the great men of the Bible. But interestingly, both Matthew and Mark write that BOTH robbers hurled insults at him. I find that interesting but understandable that different people might recall certain events somewhat differently.
