for me this is the starting point - all the pains of the past will be gone, and we won't have to suffer them anymore and I'm a fan of the suggestion at the end of C S Lewis' The Last Battle that this will be like school term being over and the holidays beginning...

Beyond that we are guessing. Jesus does speak of the rewards for the faithful servants in the parable of the talents as being the ruling of cities, so I suspect that there will be some sort of gainful work - avoiding the drudgery of this world and focused on the gifts that we have. And we'll have the whole of the new earth and the new heaven to explore - without the need for spaceships crawling along. But most of all we will have the chance to get to know God at a far deeper level - and we will find that the most wonderful and positive experience that we can ever discover; all creation is the product of his creativity - so what must the artist be like?
