Actually the Scriptures on the subject seem to imply that the current earth and heavens (universe) will be destroyed and replaced with a new heavens and earth. I remember a bible teacher once telling me that the word for "new" in the Greek text was actually more like "renewed" but I never checked for myself if he was right. I still think you'll find an abundance of projects to enjoy.... in the original garden man was placed in it to "work and take care of it" (Gen 2:15)... and we know that even in this fallen world that gardens look their best when cultivated by man. I SO can't wait.
The relevant passages are: Isaiah 65:17 [ New Heavens and a New Earth ] "Behold, I will create new heavens and a new earth. The former things will not be remembered, nor will they come to mind. Isaiah 66:22 "As the new heavens and the new earth that I make will endure before me," declares the LORD, "so will your name and descendants endure. 2 Peter 3:12-13 12as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming. That day will bring about the destruction of the heavens by fire, and the elements will melt in the heat. 13But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, the home of righteousness. Revelation 21:1 [ The New Jerusalem ] Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. Blessings Cat. |
