I agree that actions are important, but I hardly think telling him is of no value. Yes, it may be risky, and would have to be handled with extreme caution, but I think it can be very meaningful to certain guys. I am reading the book "The Five Love Languages of Teenagers" (by Gary Chapman), and that talks about different guys having different "primary" love languages. For some it is actions, or quality time, or gifts, or touch ... but for others it is words. We shouldn't assume that, for every guy, actions will be enough. Some may need to hear us say it.
