Man, I hate to be the one to tell you this, but depending on how you lose your YF, it can take years to get over it. It has been 8 years for me now and I still think about my "L" almost every day and long for the days when he was young and we were together. But the pain DOES get smaller and smaller in time, I can tell you that much. You never really get used to it completely, but you do come to realize that life goes on and it can still be a good life. Just remember that no one can ever take away all the good times you shared with your young friend, nor can they ever take away all the precious memories. Try to focus on all the good things when you find yourself longing for him, instead of focusing on your loss. Remember, that boy was a special gift from God and sometimes those gifts don't last forever, especially when it involves another person. It is normal for people to come in and out of anyone's life, even beloved people. So try to live in the now and look forward to a good future, while keeping the treasures of your past in your heart. God will always provide for you because He loves you...keep that in mind also. Anyway, those are things that have helped me. I hope they help you.
