I agree with all you say with one exception. The US is not "becoming" what you say, it has always been that way. I refer you back to the witch trials of long ago. Sadly, the US, as a whole, has always prejudged people and punished them for what they are or what they might do. Pedophiles are just the current witches, as gays were years ago. If pedophiles are ever accepted as human beings(not in my lifetime), they will just find some other class of people to hate.
