I read in the program notes for Billy Elliott that the music was specifically written for boy sopranos and it can't be sung by any boy whose voice has broken. Therefore many immensely talented boys have had to bid adieu to the production, but then, many new ones have come in.

Art does not marry boys, but only takes them as its YFs.
