Hi hfj, just a suggestion and one that I have used many times and works. Believe me when I say I know how much you would like to be alone with him and how special that would be. But building the trust Between his mom and you is so important. One thing that I have done many times and really works is to have your YF invite one of his friends, it would make his mother feel much better about it especially that because it is the first time and will build the trust. A good relationship takes time so take it slow don't go to fast to where it would scare his mother. But whatever you do I wish you the best, from what I have read it sounds like you have something so special and I am so happy for you!!!
