Yes, there are certain double standards in how parents react to men or women interacting with their kids. I've found that even a man taking a picture of a fully clothed kid is often frowned upon. So when I'm out playing with my camera, if I want to take a picture with a kid in it, I generally ask the parent first. Usually, they say it's ok. Generally, I don't take pics of boys just because they're cute. I find that kinda creepy. Just my opinion. But I do like to take pics with a boy or boys as an accent to an event or situation, like a boy watching a baseball game. I remember years ago when I was on a ferry going to the Statue of Liberty, I saw a boy standing by the rail of the boat looking out over the river with the world trade center in the background. The parents weren't around, so I just asked him if I could take the pic. It turned out fantastic and is one of my favorite shots, especially after 9-11.
