this is what my probation officer said to me at my first awful meeting with her. By then I had been teaching for well over twenty years. when I told her that never once had I even thought about initiating any sort of sexual intimacy with any of my pupils she basically told me that I was either lying or deceiving myself.
I most definitely was not.
'Being attracted to' and 'seeking sexual relations with' are two completely different things and any normal person clearly understands that otherwise society as we know it would require strict segregation of the sexes in a moslem type way or worse.
Although I fly here in the face of many non-bl people's pov, I would say that the overwhelming majority of people who are attracted to children can safely teach and care for children their entire life without a single person being put in danger. It is not right to take the worst case scenarios and apply them willy-nilly in the present obsessively risk-averse way which has become an increasingly destructive force at so many levels in modern society. This is something that needs to be fought vigorously right down the line if there is to be any justice over this matter [and many other matters also]in the future.
If we dont fight it who will?
If you are one of those people who cannnot trust themselves to stay safe then obviously you must present your case as you see fit but I wonder whether you arent just presenting society's view as it stands at the moment?
