A lot of people are dissillusioned (I know I spelled that wrong) with the church and it is sad. I was very dissatisfied with the church for a very long time and in some ways I still am. Although I must remember that the church is just as flawed as all the people who are a part of it. It is human nature to be flawed; no one is perfect. Therefore, unfortunately, all to often what we have to say is met with less-than-enthusiastic response. Many, many people have early and/or childhood memories of the church and Christianity that are bad and now they want nothing to do with either one. And, sadly, it seems that the Christian church as a whole has done very little to make things any better. They wonder why Gays will have nothing to do with their faith when they march down streets with hate-filled signs about them, telling them what bad, terrible people they were. This is NOT what Jesus would do at all. It is sad and it is wrong and I too am sick of it. But I guess the best thing we can do is try to live the way that Jesus would have lived were he here. We must be Jesus for a world that still doesn't understand Him and believe it doesn't need Him. We won't be able to do it perfectly either, but hopefully we can do a much better job than the ones who think they are godly while they are spreading a message of hate.
There, now we both took a turn on the soapbox. It's kind of nice...nice breeze. |
