That's definitely something I admire and envy about Christians, having such a strong relationship with a force that they can always turn to for guidance.
I suppose - being a non-Christian - in those times of loneliness, you basically realise that in the end you're all you've got. You learn to appreciate yourself so much more, rather than attributing all your goodness and success to a higher being. For example, when I feel lonely or just not good enough in general, I don't ask God why he is doing this to me, what I am being punished for, or anything like that. I look deeper into myself, and try to figure out my problems much more introspectively. Because, I find that if you're relying on someone else to give you the answer, the process of waiting for that answer can be the most painful process of all. Correct me if I'm wrong about the Christian experience; I don't mean to insult. |
