I have wondered this, too. I've recently been watching the series "Big Love", about a Mormon polygamist family in Utah, and -- though I know it's obviously fiction -- I found it quite eye-opening. As strange as the concept sounds to most of us, they seem to make it work, and, on the whole, seem to have a loving, even Godly family. That got me thinking about some of the examples of polygamy in the Bible, and wondering if it is truly prohibited by God ... or only by society.

Of course, I'll not be going that route personally -- zero wives is more than enough for me at this point -- but it is still an interesting topic.
