Until I switched to Linux (and now no longer need anti-virus :-), I was using Avast! I've been very happy with it, and would certainly recommend it. Maybe there is a "deluxe" version that has a 30-day trail, but the version I have always used is completely free. They just expect you to register on their web site once a year, and that's it.
