I agree with you that it is churches and many people in them who publicly or privately treat homosexual people badly, and encourages other people to do so as well, that is a large driving force to them committing suicide. Especially how in the US every year or so for the last decade or more some large public figure who is very outspokenly anti-gay ends up getting in trouble for doing something sexual with someone of the same gender. If those people accepted themselves for who they are and advocated for young people like themselves less of these suicides (and the harassment that leads to them) would happen. This, to me, is one of the major failings of the modern church. No matter what a church's stance on homosexuality is it is not acceptable to me some of the extremely harsh rhetoric I have heard come from the pulpit about homosexual people.
