what an excellent post. I was particularly struck with your comparison of the monotheistic way and the canaanite way which sounds, the way you put it, very similar to the way of the greek. There is this unbridgeable spirital gulf between the way of the ancient greeks and the way of the hebrews which has always fascinated me.
