I got the feeling he might be after reading the Shining. In that book, one of the main characters is an author who is writing a book about a pedophile struggling with his feelings. It kinda makes you wonder if that's not the book Stephen King wishes he could write.

But after reading "Low Men in Yellow Coats" from "Hearts in Atlantis", I have no doubt he's a bl. Among other things, the story explores the idea that there is no socially accepted place for what the young boy calls "guys like us" in reference to his relationship to the man. The parallel between sexual desire and the love shared by the man and the boy is explored throughout the story as well. Finally, all doubt that he is hinting at a sexual component disappears in the scene where a man offers to perform oral sex on the boy and pay him for it; the boy realizes that it is so similar to how the man feels for him (yet so different).
