I've gotta say that I kinda disagree. You obviously have a different view of music than I do, of course, and there's nothing faulty with that. Everyone's entitled to enjoy their own kind of music.
That said, I've gotta defend my favorite bands and music. You do have some groups out there that simply sell out, playing to whatever audience they get, whatever type of music they can, it's true. But that's not all of them. I know for a fact that the groups I listen to really care about their fanbase, don't sell out, and REALLY put everything they are and they have into their music. That's part of what attracts me to them in particular, if I feel their music is more involved than others'. And to tell you the truth, I've found that I despise blues, jazz, and folk, and even most Christian music. I fancy myself a Christian, it's true, but at the same time, I grow weary of bands that resemble each other so much in sound and lyrical content that you literally cannot tell them apart. It's one thing to praise God in song, quite another to not be able to appreciate the lifestyle. Then on the other hand you have Relient K, who sings Godly music about actual issues they face WITH the Christian lifestyle. Plus they're awesome live. |
