All points of view are welcome. I don't think that anyone is expecting everyone here to agree with everything the book has to say. In this case, I chose the book, so I obviously agree with much of it. But if these kinds of studies become common here and others start choosing other books, there is little doubt I will disagree with a great deal of some of them (please no one choose "Wild at Heart", I can't stand that book!).
I think when it comes to the idea that we each have our own individual purpose, a sort of mission that God created us to accomplish, that is certainly debatable. Those last two units of this book will probably meet with disagreement from some. However, when we talk about the more general reasons for why God created man and the more universal directives given to us by God, I think the bible is fairly clear on those. God does give us directives in the bible. Jesus did give us a great commission for example (which we will get to in later chapters), and it's very difficult to argue with Jesus. |
