There have been decades worth of experiments by the church to reorient homosexuals. The best they could do is convince homosexuals to change their definition of homosexuality so that they would no longer fit the new definition.
There are a few problems with using the verse you just chose to promote change by homosexuals. The most obvious problem with it is the fact that homosexuality is not an illness in need of healing. Asking for God to change your homosexuality makes about much sense as asking him to change your hair color, the color of your eyes, or to make you taller. Another problem with it is the fact that not every prayer for healing is answered in the way we would like. This is not something the bible stays silent on, Paul addresses it here: 2 Corinthians 12: 7-9 Therefore, in order to keep me from becoming conceited, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me. Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. But he said to me, My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. As you can see, Paul did not spend the rest of his life pleading with God to heal him from his ailment. He accepted the fact God said no and moved on with his life. He learned to live in his less than perfect condition and praise the fact that despite being afflicted by a physical ailment, God still uses him. Paul's strategy seems the better strategy for those who find pedophilia or homosexuality to be an affliction. Learn to live with it, and move on. |
