Yes, I suppose children are usually ungrateful. Not because they're selfish or callous, particularly, but just because that's how children are. They don't usually give much thought to money and effort and expense, and all the things that so preoccupy adults. I'm sure I was similarly thoughtless at the same age. I don't think there's much you can do about it. Some people might even find it endearing.
But from the perspective of a boylover, I suppose my question is: does it matter? It must be nice to be appreciated, but a selfless lover doesn't give because he wants to be reciprocated, but because the pleasure lies in giving. I suppose this is where boylove has the potential to be particularly 'angelic': because it is a selfless devotion that doesn't look for recompense. I realise that's a pretty idealistic picture that doesn't adequately account for the complexities of real relationships and real human beings, but it is perhaps something to aspire to. |
