I agree with most of what you say, though I'm not sure I think God promises to take away our (or anyone's) desires for things other-than-God. There might be some for whom being 'in Christ' means losing one's sinful desires completely. If you are one of those people, then I am very happy for you! For most of us, though, I think life in the world continues to be a constant struggle - though, God willing, gradually less - and perhaps will be until the general resurrection when the One seated on the throne will say, "behold, I make all things new."
