I can't say enough good about A.A. I have been in and out of that program for years but I wish I had just stayed in it. Whenever I have tried to either get sober or stay sober on my own, it has never worked. But A.A. has always worked for me. I believe I will be a life-time member. I now see that this is the only way I can insure I am doing the right thing to stay sober. It is always a "one day at a time" proposition, but if I continue to go to meetings and follow that program, my chances of success are excellent.
Honestly, I believe that A.A. and other related 12 step programs are a gift from God. While church attendance is a good thing, it just isn't enough to keep a drunk like me sober; or a drug addict sober. We need a program that focuses on our faults in a way that is constructive and designed to help us align ourselves with God as we personally understand God. And we need the support and understanding of others who understand because they are just like us. Hey, it works....and I'm glad it does. Anyway, thank you. I'm glad to be here and to be here sober. |
