However it's simply not universally true. I know a number of BLs who've achieved good degree of acceptance by their churches; that yours is stuck in the dark ages is sad, but don't assume they're all alike.

The preaching of a good church is: 'We're all sinners, and Jesus offers the answer.

The preaching of a bad church can either be: 'Everyone's OK really' - which usually breaks down in the face of Paedophiles - or 'What terrible sinners THEY are', with the nature of the sin being anything from sex to failing to vote for the latest left wing cause.

But ultimately being a Christian is about your relationship with the God revealed in Jesus. If He is the true God, the fact that a few of his so-called disciples are deeply flawed is a real disaster, but is no excuse for ignoring the truth that He IS there.
