I have been in a similar position to you in my emotional attachement to someone I thought I couldn't live without. I would like to tell you what I think about that now.
We all are inclined to get attached to people very strongly. This is, I believe how God made us. This motivation to attach keeps us in relationship with other people which we do need. However, it also has its potential dangers. If we start to believe we cannot live without the other person we are attached too, then we are suddenly in a place were we are surrendering control of our life and letting go of things we would do best to keep as our responsibility. For instance, your peace of mind and your happieness are your responsibility. If you make your happiness and peace dependant on what someone else does.... or how someone else relates to you.. then you will be very miserable indeed if they don't do what you hope. If on the other hand, we take responsibility for our own happiness and peace, we can then *invite* other people to share with us in building that but it never becomes *their* project. We can be grateful for what they give us and we can let things go when they either aren't able or aren't willing to keep giving. Yes attachement feelings are very strong and powerful... but let them serve you... don't you go serving them. Blessings Cat. |
