It's always good when people come back here - it means that the board has something to offer, and it's good to be associated with something that is of value. The link at the bottom is to a summary that Heather offered of a very helpful book that provides a view of all the approachs that Christians offer to homosexuality; by extension it applies to a large extent to Boylove. Your church is operating within a cetain paradigm which you seem to be struggling with. Whilst it may be helpful to some of us - I can identify elements in my past that answer those questions - it doesn't necessarily get you a lot further. The core reality is that it appears that we get from our interaction with boys the same emotional food that most men get from their relationships with women. Or at least that's where I'm at :-) So part of the answer for your counsellor is to turn the question round to him and invite him to consider what he gets from his relationship with women; it's a broader definition of what sexuality means than just titillation. Once this is clear, it all comes down to the fundamental issue of why I go for boys and you for women. (OK - that's not a complete answer - there are elements in our relationship with boys that won't be there in theirs with women and the difference may be important, but the point is important) I'm also fascinated by your story of telling your church leadership so openly - it would be interesting to know a little about how you told them and they have coped, whether they have actively restrained your activities, stuff like that. Also how many people know about it, and in what context. As to the wider issue of your future, the board offers some significant 'resources' - we have some teachers, and others who work more or less 'openly' with boys. But I'll let them tell you about themselves. Here's hoping you hang around and find us helpful. |
