You are not the first, nor will you be the last to doubt that there is a God. Only He can reveal Himself to you.
God has made me faithful, through His Holy Spirit.

The Bible, when read through unenlightened eyes, will be inconsistent, and even baffling to the most well-educated of people. Without the Spirit of God quickening your mind, the Bible is a dead book, full of fairy tales, anecdotes, and inconsistencies. A whole new world is opened up to you when begin to understand it through revelation by the Holy Ghost, and the Bible will come alive in your heart and mind. If you seek Him diligently, you will find Him in virtually every page. Through His Spirit, the scales will fall from your eyes, and you will see things that you never dreamed possible. It amazes me every day the new things I learn when I read in my Bible.

Let me put it to you this way…

Suppose you were trying to describe a beautiful sunset to someone who had been blind from birth? Where would you start? What could you say to them about the beautiful colors and brilliant patterns of light? If you can give me the answer to this, then I can tell you, what makes me a believer.

As for the independence of eternal truth, the Holy Spirit will help you to separate the chaff from the wheat… the essence of the truth of God's Word. Does that make any sense to you?

God, with the guidance of His Holy Spirit through men, has chosen what is vital to our salvation, and has seen fit to include these words in what we call the Bible.

As a comparison, what good would an alphabet be without being composed into words? What sense would they make? Without words, the alphabet would be only a jumble of peculiar marks on a piece of paper… Yet in order to read, in order to write, we must learn these letters as children. When you are a child, you understand as a child, as you grow older and learn more, the alphabet opens up a whole world of thousands of books of knowledge there for the taking. Belief in God, and His word does the same thing for a believer.

Hope this helped,

Peace of Christ,
Andy
