Anyone else like this movie? If you're able to ignore the foul language, this movie has a good storyline about the influence of an older man on a younger man. Ever wonder about the future of the boys you love? What happens when the boy you love becomes older than your age of attraction and becomes a man? Do you still remain his mentor and give him guidance? Or is your work done with him and you pursue another boy as your main subject? I think this movie portrays a good example of what one's relationship can be with a young man as he grows older and enters his 20s and beyond. Robin Williams won an Oscar for his performance as the mentor, and the two writers (Matt Damon & Ben Affleck) won Oscars for the storyline. I'm able to see myself in two of these roles. As a mentor, I see myself in the role of Robin Williams and my mentee as the character Will Hunting. And as a young man who has an older mentor, I am also able to see myself in the role of Will Hunting. Anyway, the movie is a great example of how we can continue to be a good influence on the lives of the boys we love as they grow older and become men themselves. ~Splash* |
