Certainly I'd wrongly got the impression that you hadn't any guilt about the extra-marital sex you ended up in with his mother - so I'm really pleased to see this loose end tied up. As far as ministry is concerned, I suspect you need to be honest to someone at the church about what DID happen with her; after all in the end their suspicions were justified - even the suspicions preceded the event! As to the issue of you relationship with the boy and that whole issue, be VERY cautious about saying anything - given some of the disclosure laws out there, anyone in an official position might interpret any admission as requiring them to inform the authorities of suspicion that you had interfered with him, with the result he's likely to be questioned! Which is of course a real problem - for many of us we can't be open and accountable because these laws require disclosure - so we aren't supported as we need to be, so end up more likely to offend that otherwise. Very perverse outcome! But it is a very helpful story you have unfolded - thank you for it. |
