I swear that if I ever do find a bishop foolish enough to ordain me, I'll never use the above phrase in a sermon. However, the Bauer-Arndt-Gingrich-Danker Greek-English Lexicon of the NT and other early Christian literature simply defines gameth (gamete) as "wife." They cite a number of classical Greek references, as well as 4 Maccabees 2:11 and 1 Clement 6:3. I really wasn't trying to prove anything, though. Just bein' a goof.
