Jesus Christ has come in the flesh We will be resurrected - and given a new body. It is a common misinterpretation of the New Testament to reject the degree to which the pleasures of the flesh are part of God's GOOD creation for us to enjoy. Yes they can be a trap, yes they CAN lead us away from God, but that is no reason to reject them entirely. Jesus's first miracle was at at a wedding - for which he supplied wine. As a practicing Jew he would have obeyed the instructions in Deut 14 v22 - 27 - which come as a shock to many people! (Go and look it up.....) One of the biggest mistakes of the church of the last 100 years was its support for the prohibition of alcohol...... Which is not to excuse drunkenness - but we need to learn to get the balance right, not just reject what can be a problem. Me - I'm looking forward to learning to ski in my resurrection body, having never got round to it this time! |
