Tempest, I just want to encourage you in understanding that God loves you beyond measure. He loves you so much that He sent His own Son to die for you so that you could be set free from sin and death through believing in Him! He has borne the burden for every act of sin and every thought of sin that you have ever committed, if you believe in Him and His death and resurrection to Life, and trust Him with your life. He suffered and died on the cross so that the penalty we owe for rejecting Him and His words would be fully paid for us. The Bible tells us thet "All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23). We've all sinned in thought and deed, Tempest. We all come up short of God's ideal for us - a perfect, sin-free life. But we can have that sinlessness accounted to us - like credited to our account, when we believe that God raised Jesus from the dead! God will wash away our past - He will cut off the sinful life from us and create a new Life within us - and we need not be ashamed. He even heals and restores and SETS FREE those of us who have been beset by lusts for men and boys. You can read that in 1 Corithians 6:9, Paul is talking about the sinfulness of male prostitutes and homosexuals, and how these cannot share in the Kingdom of God [among many others in this list of sins]. But of all of them, the Holy Spirit of God says in verse 11, "And there was a time when some of you were just like that, but now your sins have been washed away, and you have been set apart for God. You have been made right with God because of what the Lord Jesus Christ and the Spirit of our God have done for you." Some who were just like us, Tempest, God changed by the power of His Spirit - he made them right with Himself! And the Bible talks about them in the past tense, "when you were just like that". They left it behind - and it is a solid truth that we can leave it behind too. Don't be fooled and enticed by those who would want to lure you into staying in these thoughts of sin and lust - they are just looking for someone to be miserable with them - someone to drag down to the depths where they are. Just be assured that God has promised to set free those who are hounded by impure sexual thoughts and desires. He set free those Corinthians who were homosexuals and had sex with boys and the boys they had sex with (that is what the world for 'male prostitute' meant in Greek) - he set me free from all those thoughts of wanting to be sexual and romantic with boys - he can do it for all of us, HE CAN DO IT FOR YOU. Look to the Lord, trust Him to make good on the promises He has made in His Word. I know from experience that it is absolutely TRUE!! |
