To me, the sin I continue to read about in this group is our self absorption on this sexual desire. Are we closer to God by being so self absorbed on this that we don't see the other sins that are contained within us. There is no growth by us staying in the obsesiional thought surrounding this sin. Did not God forgive us? Does He not know the evil thoughts we have (all of them - not just the sexual ones)? Does God love us? Does God forgive us? Sin can seperate us from God by reamining in our self abosrption and guilt. Does God love us? How can we be taught about our other sinful natures (in which there are many) if we only focus on this one? God's forgiveness allows us to move forward and allows us to dream of the noble attributes of who we are - the ones I continue to remind us of. The truth is: We love boys so much more than just this sexual desire. We have been given the gifts of patience, endurance, faith, and the love neceassary to make an impact on a boy's life! God will help us when we fall, and He will forgive us, so that we can be the ones who can reach the boys who are lost, the ones with no hope, the ones who need God as much as we know we need God. We are not perfect, but no one is. Do we throw in the towel? Or do we trust in God to help us with the temptaion that, from time to time, may occur when spending time with a boy? I understand this is an easy thing to fear. In fact, it may be the hardest thing some of us will ever deal with in our lives. Sexual desires are a great force, but I know we are more than those sexual desires. I believe we are capable of having realtionships with boys that are pleasing to God - that, in short, make a difference in the boy's life, in our lives, and in our world. Finally, when we are a part of the miracle of seeing the impact that God has made on a boy, a boy we have come to love deeply, will we not hear the angels sing? Once a Boy |
