I quote the bible

In reply to Re: There's more to the world than the US submitted by Gideon on November 14 2000 01:40:21

and you quote George Washington in reply.

THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG HERE

When Paul tells us to submit to the governing authorities and you interpret that in such a way as to exclude paying taxes, there is a gap in your interpretation here. You can't be submitted to them but say 'I refuse to obey the instruction to pay this amount of money that they order me to pay'.

'Therefore he who resists the authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist WILL INCUR JUDGEMENT' Rom 13 v2

Yes it does matter - because the only basis for a bible believer to oppose consensual gay relationships is the bible; to be in such blatant disobedience to the bible in one area renders the rest of your claims barely defensible, as well as undermining those of us who are making a serious attempt to argue the biblical case against homosexual practice.

'For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God' Rom 13 v1b

Even the US Government - despite its iffy birth.
And especially the British government :-))
To argue otherwise is to render the Rom 13 passage vacuous.
